Dental Insurance Update for Employers, Brokers and Members

Important Update Regarding Group Dental Insurance

Vision Benefits of America (VBA) is committed to keeping employers, brokers and members informed about changes that impact their employee benefits programs.

VBA has offered group dental benefits through TruAssure Insurance Company for more than 10 years. As a result of a business decision by TruAssure Insurance Company, the dental insurance arrangement between TruAssure and VBA will end effective November 1, 2026. As a result, VBA will no longer be able to offer dental coverage through this partnership as existing policies reach their renewal dates.

We know carrier changes can be inconvenient. Whether you're an employer, broker or member, you may have questions about what this means for you. Our team is committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible.

What If I Currently Have Dental Coverage?

If your organization currently offers employer-sponsored dental insurance through TruAssure, your existing coverage will remain in place through the current policy term unless otherwise communicated.

As renewal dates approach, we'll communicate directly with affected groups and provide guidance as needed. Our team is available to answer questions, provide updates and help you navigate the transition.

What About My Vision Benefits?

The good news is that nothing is changing with the vision coverage that VBA has been providing to its members for over 60 years.

VBA will continue providing the vision benefits, provider network access and customer service that our clients and members count on every day.

Why Is This Happening?

TruAssure made a strategic business decision to exit the group commercial dental market. That decision was wholly unrelated to VBA’s standalone vision benefit plans.

Dental Insurance  
Is VBA still offering dental insurance?  

VBA is no longer accepting new business for group dental insurance through our current carrier partnership. Existing clients should contact VBA for information regarding their coverage and renewal status.

Will my dental coverage end immediately?  

No. Existing coverage remains in effect through the current policy term unless otherwise communicated.

What happens to my current dental insurance plan?  

Current dental insurance plans will remain active through their existing policy term. Employers will receive information regarding their non-renewed policy approximately 60 days prior to the contract end date.

Will this affect my vision insurance?  

No. This change only impacts dental insurance products.
