Jim Davies

President/Chief Executive Officer

With more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Jim was named VBA’s President/CEO in April 2014. Jim joined VBA as a board member in March 2011, serving as chairperson of the audit/finance committee. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in March 2013.

Jim received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Prior to joining VBA, Jim served as vice president, eligibility systems for CoreSource, a national third-party administrator.

He has extensive knowledge of the insurance business, having worked in almost every aspect of the industry. He holds a CPCU certification and spent time as an adjunct insurance professor at Millersville University and Georgia State University.

As the President/CEO, Jim is responsible for exploring expansion opportunities and executive oversight. He has worked diligently to solidify a dental partnership, update internal systems and expand our marketing efforts. Jim is an active board member for the National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP).

Jim was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He and his wife Doris relocated to Pittsburgh several years ago and enjoy getting to know the area. Jim likes to volunteer and spend time with his two sons. 

Aaron R. Risden, CPA

Treasurer and Chief Administrative Officer

As the Treasurer and Chief Administrative Officer for VBA, Aaron oversees the accounting, data processing and information technology departments. Aaron is hard working and an excellent problem-solver.

Before starting at VBA in 2014, Aaron was a Controller for BBL Fleet Leasing. He also served as a Senior Manager at ParenteBeard LLC, a regional accounting and consulting firm. Aaron earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003. He went on to receive his Master of Science in Accounting from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business in 2011.

Aaron serves on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). From 2012-2013, Aaron served as President of the PICPA and has previously served the Pittsburgh Chapter of the PICPA as Co-Chair of the Community Involvement & Social Responsibility Committee and Chair of the Member Services Committee. Aaron is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In 2014, Aaron joined the Business Alumni Association Board of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Aaron grew up in Ocean County, New Jersey. He now resides in Mt. Lebanon, PA with his wife, son and three dogs. Aaron enjoys reading, working in his garden, and martial arts practice.

Jeff Hollowood

General Counsel

Jeff is a seasoned attorney, with over 13 years of experience. Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science from the Pennsylvania State University and went on to receive his J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2003.

After being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2003, Jeff joined a boutique firm in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He focused on municipal law, personal injury law and civil litigation. During this time, Attorney Hollowood was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Jeff joined VBA in April 2015. In addition to being our General Counsel, he also serves as the Director of Member Services. Jeff oversees all customer-based communications. Throughout the company, Jeff is admired for his dedication to his work and his thorough attention to detail.

Jeff’s hobbies include playing guitar, running and swimming. He resides in the suburbs of Pittsburgh with his wife and two children. 

Matthew Cuomo

Vice President, Sales and Sales Support

Matt started at VBA in April 2015 with over 13 years of experience in the insurance industry. Before joining our team, he was a producer for Huntington Insurance and Rodgers Insurance Group. Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Duquesne University.

As the Vice President of Sales and Sales Support for VBA, Matt oversees the sales and sales support team and is responsible for new business generation, retention and growth. Matt developed and now teaches continuing education courses about the vision health industry.

Among his colleagues, Matt is a respected leader and is known for being a great multi-tasker and always looking out for everyone’s best interest.

Matt is a Pittsburgh native and resides in McCandless with his wife, two children and dog, Minnie. When he isn’t busy helping VBA grow and develop, he enjoys coaching t-ball, playing golf and reading about early American history. 

Jessica Turcotte

Vice President, Provider Relations & Marketing

In April 2015, Jessica joined VBA as the Marketing Manager. She was promoted to Director of Marketing in August 2015 and then Director of Provider Relations and Marketing in October 2015. She assumed her current role as Vice President, Provider Relations & Marketing in June 2016. She is an energetic team leader who is revered by her colleagues for her hard work and dedication.

Jessica’s biggest undertakings have been rebranding VBA, and building the credentialing and data integrity teams. In addition, Jessica has taken the Provider Relations department and expanded it from a team of two, to a team of eight. On a daily basis, she maintains operations of the Provider Relations and Marketing departments and helps VBA to develop new partnerships.

Prior to VBA, Jessica was the apparel manager for Ibis Tek. She also spent seven years as a 7th grade Learning Support Teacher for Bethel Park School District. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Westminster College and has a Master of Business Administration from Robert Morris, as well as a Master of Education from Geneva College. She is active in the National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) and a delegate on the credentialing committee.

Jessica grew up in New Wilmington, PA and currently resides in the suburbs of Pittsburgh with her husband and two miniature poodles, Jimmy and Harney. In her free time, Jessica enjoys riding her bike around the city.
